About damnoensaduak.com
damnoensaduak.com is an independent guide to day trips from Bangkok to the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market and the markets usually combined with it. This page explains who runs it, how tours get onto the site and how it is financed.
Who writes here
The site is run by Patrick Kühne, an independent travel publisher in Markkleeberg near Leipzig, Germany. He researches, writes and updates the pages himself and runs a small group of guides to day tours and attraction tickets.
How tours are chosen
Only tours that can be booked today appear here. When GetYourGuide and Headout sell what looks like the same tour, only one listing is shown: the one with more reviews, unless its average rating is more than 0.2 stars lower, in which case the better-rated one is used. Tours that stop selling are taken off the site automatically. Elephant camp combinations are not listed.
How the site earns money
Booking links go to GetYourGuide and Headout. When you book through one of them, the platform pays a commission; your price stays the same. Comparison tables are sorted by number of reviews, not by commission. Where a Headout tour and a different tour on GetYourGuide have comparable reviews, the Headout tour gets the button at the top of the page, because Headout pays a higher commission.
Where the facts come from
Prices, ratings and review counts are loaded from the booking platforms once a day. Tour facts such as pickup areas, duration, boat ride and train ride come from the tour listings. Background facts, for example the train times at Maeklong or the history of the canal, are taken from the State Railway of Thailand, the Thai tourism authorities and other named sources, with the date they were checked. Where a listing leaves something open, the tables say "Not stated".
What this site is not
damnoensaduak.com does not run tours, sells no tickets itself and is not the website of the market or of any operator. For binding information on times, pickup and cancellation, the booking confirmation and the operator count.
